Fake DWP Winter Fuel Payments Text

E (gas and electricity) has been made aware of a scam text which falsely claims to be from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

The message states that you have not yet applied for the 2025-2026 Winter Fuel Payment and asks you to apply via a secure link. 

The text then gives an imminent deadline along with a warning that you will no longer be eligible if you do not apply by the given deadline. 

This is NOT a genuine DWP message as they do not issue winter fuel payments via text so please do not click on the link or share any personal information.

If in doubt, contact your energy supplier directly.
