Radio Tele Switching Off

Some older electricity meters operate with a Radio Tele switching signal, which allows them to change between peak and off-peak rates. These are usually in properties with electric storage heaters. This equipment is nearing the end of its lifespan, and the signal is scheduled to be switched off on June 30th. When the signal is switched off, it may affect the operation of your heating and hot water.
If you have one of these meters, your electricity supplier should have contacted you already to arrange an appointment to change your meter. If this is not the case, then you should notify them as soon as possible to arrange this. A new smart meter will be fitted, which will not rely on this signal. RTS meters typically have a black box beside the meter, similar to the ones shown in the photograph. If in doubt, please get in touch with your supplier. Contact details are shown below.
