Who gets priority?
The major determining factor in assessing applications is the level of housing need which the applicant has.
This is done by way of a combined priority and points system. The person with the highest level of priority and points will be at the top of the waiting list and will be offered the first available property that meets their needs..
Priorities are awarded as follows:-
Priority 1 – Those applicants fleeing violence, harassment or abuse in their current home.
Priority 2 - All other applicants
Within these groupings applicants are given points to reflect their current housing situation. Circumstances for which points may be awarded include:

- Homelessness
- Overcrowding i.e. current accommodation is to small.
- Underoccupation i.e. current accommodation is too large.
- Sharing amenities such as bathroom or kitchen.
- Lack of amenities e.g. no inside toilet or electricity
- Insecurity of tenure e.g. an applicant who has a Short Assured Tenancy.
- Family support, where a relative/carer provides/requires a level of care or support.
